Chapter 12 - Losing the Babies Did Not Become Evidence
For months, every legal conversation eventually returned to the twins.
Medical causation had to be discussed carefully.
Doctors would not turn my grief into a slogan.
The fall caused significant trauma.
The pregnancy ended afterward.
Those facts mattered.
But medicine and criminal law required precision about exactly what could be established.
At first, that frustrated me.
I wanted somebody to say:
Daniel took my children.
A therapist helped me understand why I needed that sentence.
It gave my grief somewhere to go.
But my babies were not exhibits.
They were not leverage.
They had existed before the case.
