Chapter 8 - I Had Received One Envelope

Randall insisted he mailed birthday cards.
I remembered one.
Two years earlier.
Cashier's check inside.
$2,000.
I returned it.
I wrote:
Use this for your future. I have enough.
Randall never received the return envelope.
Avalon did.
She admitted that.
“What did you do with it?”
“Deposited it into the reserve.”
Reasonable.
Then:
“Why didn't you tell Randall?”
“Because he'd call you.”
“And?”
“You'd fight.”
True.
Again.
Reasonable until it wasn't.
That envelope became the blueprint.
Agatha refuses.
Avalon manages.
Randall relaxes.
Everybody remains peaceful.
Until managing turned into deciding.
May you like
Then deciding turned into hiding.
Then hiding turned into ownership.
