Chapter 14 - I Left the 161-Square-Foot Apartment

Not because Randall bought me a condo.

He tried.

Absolutely not.

We negotiated.

Yes.

Negotiated.

I moved into a modest one-bedroom apartment.

Five hundred and forty square feet.

Elevator.

Real kitchen.

Window facing trees.

I paid what I could.

Randall contributed to a transparent monthly amount we agreed on together.

Not ten thousand.

Not secret.

Everything documented.

If I wanted to refuse something, I had to say it to his face.

If he wanted to help, he had to ask before assuming.

It sounds ridiculous that a family needed procedures for generosity.

We did.

The account that remained from the reserve was placed under independent management while the dispute was resolved.

No Avalon.

No Randall.

May you like

No me improvising.

Sometimes love needs fewer opportunities for interpretation.
