Immediately.
They issued a fraud referral internally and preserved the entire file.
No money funded.
No lien was recorded.
No trust transfer happened.
My parents’ house survived.
Barely.
But stopping the loan did not erase what had already happened.
Grant’s debts remained.
Bella’s forged documents remained.
The unauthorized use of my records remained.
And Mom’s cooperation remained.
The bank asked whether I wanted my identity misuse referred formally.
I said yes.
That surprised Mom.
She called me crying.
“Jessica, she’s your sister.”
“So?”
“You could ruin her life.”
“No.”
I had learned this sentence recently and found it useful.
“She created the risk. Reporting it is not creating it.”
Mom hung up.
Dad called later.
