Chapter 10 - BELLA WASN’T TRYING TO SAVE HER HOUSE—SHE WAS TRYING TO TAKE THEIRSThe major twist was buried in an unsigned transfer package Bella prepared alongside the refinance.

She planned to use the cash-out mortgage as step one.

Step two was a revocable family property trust naming Bella as successor trustee.

Step three gave her authority to manage the house if either parent became “financially impaired.”

That language sounded protective.

It wasn’t.

Attached correspondence between Bella and Grant’s attorney made the goal clear.

Once the refinance funded and their debts were paid, Bella intended to convince Mom and Dad to place the house into the trust.

Then, under the management clauses she drafted, Bella could borrow against it again without needing both parents to understand every future transaction.

She was not using my parents’ house once.

She was positioning herself to control it permanently.

Suddenly every earlier clue snapped together.

My payments made the first loan qualify.

My forged lease created reliable rental income.

Evicting me removed the real occupant before inspection.

Mom’s panic over the January transfer made sense because Bella needed the fake tenant story to keep functioning.

The furnace contract threatened underwriting because it proved my financial role didn’t match the lease.

And Bella’s insistence that I was “living off Mom and Dad” had a second purpose.

If relatives ever questioned why I disappeared, she already had a social narrative:

Jessica was finally forced to leave.

No one would ask whether the bank still believed I lived there.

But the deepest betrayal belonged to Mom.

Bella had already shown her the trust concept.

Mom had agreed “in principle.”

Dad had not.

That was why Bella needed the refinance closed first.

Once the money saved Grant, she believed Mom could pressure Dad into the rest.

I looked at Nina.

“So I wasn’t the target.”

“You were one of them,” she said. “Your father’s house was the asset.”

I finally understood.

Bella didn’t throw me out because she wanted me gone.

She threw me out because she needed every piece of the family to stand in the exact position required for her fraud.
