Chapter 13 - THE PAPERWORK SARAH SIGNED AFTER SHE SURVIVED
Two weeks after leaving the hospital, Sarah signed the trust amendment her mother had been trying to outrun.
This time she signed it slowly, in Brenner’s office, with Julian beside her and two independent witnesses who checked every page.
Victoria was removed from every fiduciary role.
Forever.
If anything ever happened to Sarah and Julian, the boys’ trustees would be Andrea and Rachel.
The contingent remainder went to the children’s medical foundation exactly as Sarah intended.
Her life insurance was rewritten.
Her will was rewritten.
Her medical directives were rewritten.
And for the first time in their marriage, Sarah and Julian also wrote mutual instructions about emergency decision-making that left no room for parental interference from either side.
“Too much?” Julian asked.
Sarah looked at the stack of signed documents.
“No,” she said. “Too late.”

The family also filed civil claims to block Victoria from accessing anything during the criminal proceedings. The probate petition she filed before the burial became part of the evidence against her.
The law, which had nearly been used as the weapon, now became the shield.
