Chapter 11 - THE MORNING HIS COMPANY LOST MY NAME

The lender withdrew reliance on every document connected to me.
Not eventually.
Immediately after reviewing my formal denial and the preliminary signature analysis.
Without my seven million and without my house as collateral, Ricardo’s restructuring package collapsed.
That did not mean his company disappeared overnight.
Real companies do not vanish because one dramatic wife walks into a law office.
The lenders entered negotiations.
Suppliers tightened terms.
Cash accounts were monitored.
Outside restructuring advisers were brought in.
Ricardo lost the ability to pretend the crisis was temporary.
Then the notary investigation became uglier.
The office confirmed that I had never appeared to execute either document.
A junior clerk admitted Arturo had submitted copies claiming my signatures had already been authenticated through prior records.
The office denied authorising the final form.
Everyone began hiring separate lawyers.
That is how conspiracies usually die.
Not because someone develops morality.
Because shared counsel becomes impossible.
Ricardo stopped blaming Daniela and started blaming Arturo.
Arturo blamed a clerk.
Elvira blamed Ricardo’s desperation.
Daniela claimed she knew nothing about forged documents.
Maybe she didn’t.
But hospital messages showed she knew Ricardo intended to keep the house.
The day after the lender rejected the package, Ricardo came home accompanied by his attorney to collect personal belongings under arrangements Alejandra approved.
He stood in the living room where Sofía had opened seventeen Christmases.
“You ruined me,” he said.
I looked at him.
May you like
“No. I removed my name from what you were doing.”
For once, he had no argument.
