Chapter 10 - THE SON WAS SUPPOSED TO INHERIT WHAT BELONGED TO ME

The major twist was hidden inside a draft package prepared by Arturo and Ricardo for the lender.

The forged seven-million-peso commitment was only the immediate rescue.

The larger plan involved my house.

Ricardo’s company owed far more than he had admitted.

Seven million pesos would buy time.

It would not save Mendoza Industrial Supply.

To obtain a longer restructuring, Ricardo proposed additional collateral.

My home.

The house my parents had given me.

The draft included a purported spousal authorisation bearing another signature that was not mine.

But the most disturbing document came after it.

A private family trust draft.

Beneficiary structure:

Ricardo Mendoza.

Daniela Torres’s unborn son.

And, in a subordinate position, Sofía.

I read the page three times.

Daniela’s child had not even been born.

Yet Ricardo and Elvira were already constructing a future in which he would inherit control of assets that came from my family.

Alejandra pointed to the trust schedule.

“Look at the description.”

Primary residence to be contributed following refinancing and marital restructuring.

My house.

That was Elvira’s “arrangement.”

That was why she had said Ricardo needed somewhere to raise the boy.

That was why Daniela asked whether Elvira was happy about having a grandson.

That was why Elvira worked so hard to keep me beside her hospital bed.

And that was why Monday mattered.

Ricardo intended to move my seven million into his company first.

Then use forged or misleading documents to represent my house as support for a broader restructuring.

Once the company survived, he planned to separate from me on terms that left him still controlling the residence and building a trust around Daniela’s unborn son.

The earlier clues aligned brutally.

His casual questions about my liquid inheritance.

The supplier crisis.

The certified deed copy.

The identification documents.

The forged liquidity undertaking.

Elvira’s hospital texts.

Daniela being registered under the Mendoza surname.

The promise that “the house issue” would be resolved after the funds moved.

He had not simply cheated on me.

He had been preparing to finance his new family with property inherited from mine.

And Sofía—the daughter Elvira always said would marry and leave—had been deliberately placed behind the unborn boy in the trust draft.

I did not cry.

I looked at Alejandra.

“What happens now?”

She closed the file.

“Now we make sure every person who relied on those documents learns exactly who never signed them.”
