Not me.
That distinction mattered.
Evidence needed chain of custody.
His attorneys turned over copies.
Authorities decided what was relevant.
I was allowed to review only material directly connected to my prior work after legal arrangements were made.
Sofia’s file was brutal.
Hospital records.
Adverse-event reviews.
Emails.
One internal Caldera-Kline message:
HART CONTINUES TO INSIST ON SIGNAL RETENTION.
Another:
EXTERNAL REVIEW RECOMMENDED BEFORE HER POSITION BECOMES THE NARRATIVE.
Then an invoice.
Crestline Risk Advisory.
Strategic communications.
Expert vetting.
Professional-background review.
Client listed as a healthcare investment intermediary.
The intermediary traced to a fund managed by Dominic.
Not proof he personally ordered attacks on me.
Enough to ask why his portfolio paid the consultants who did.
Then came another email.
Dominic to Caldera-Kline executive Martin Kline:
WE NEED THIS CONTAINED BEFORE CORBIN SEES THE DAUGHTER CASE.
Date:
Six months before Sofia died.
I read it twice.
Rafael had not known his own daughter’s case was inside the disputed safety data.
Dominic had.
“Why hide that from him?”
I asked.
Rafael answered:
“Money.”
His healthcare fund was highly leveraged.
A major Caldera-Kline valuation drop would trigger losses.
Dominic had also tied his career to the investment.
Still, that did not prove poisoning.
Then Detective Ruiz found something disturbing.
The anonymous email accusing me had been routed through privacy services.
But one attached file had metadata from a document-management system used by Crestline.
Same consulting firm.
Somebody was trying to use the old playbook again.
Four years earlier:
Discredit Nell Hart before she becomes credible.
Now:
Discredit Nell Hart before she becomes useful.
That was clue number two.
The first had been Dominic’s strange role in selecting Rafael’s replacement glass.
The third arrived from Vincent.
He finally remembered a phrase in the threat:
DON’T MAKE THE SOFIA MISTAKE TWICE.
Vincent assumed it meant failing Rafael’s family.
Rafael interpreted it differently.
Only a small number of people knew Sofia’s death was what pushed him into investigating Caldera-Kline.
Dominic was one of them.
