As they should.
The school district completed its internal review and changed its release procedures. Patricia was permanently removed from pickup permissions.
The salon preserved its records and provided a statement regarding Henry’s repeated objections and Patricia’s claims of authority.
The police forwarded the matter for prosecutorial review.
Ultimately, Patricia faced charges connected to falsified documentation and her unauthorized removal and treatment of Henry, along with the physical restraint allegations arising from the haircut itself.
Her attorney negotiated rather than pretend the evidence did not exist.
The resolution included probation, required counseling, compliance with a no-contact order covering Henry and Rose unless later modified through proper channels, and restrictions designed to prevent further interference.
We also established our own boundaries.
No unsupervised contact.
No school information.
No medical portal access.
No spare house keys.
No “emergency” exceptions invented by relatives.
Every person on both sides of our family received the same written rule:
If David and I had not said yes, the answer was no.
Some relatives called that extreme.
David answered them calmly.
“My mother taught us why we need it.”
Nobody argued twice.
Henry’s therapist helped him regain comfort with ordinary things: combs, hair washing, people standing behind him.
At first he refused even to let me trim the uneven sections Patricia had left.
So we didn’t.
