Chapter 11 - Beth Said She Only Gave Legal Advice
Beth hired her own attorney.
Her position was simple.
She never told Caroline to abuse June.
True.
She never told Caroline to falsify evidence.
At least nothing we found established that.
She advised her sister to document caregiving and understand the legal implications of adoption before divorce.
Some of that could be ordinary advice.
Then came the texts where Caroline asked:
How do I prove Rachel isn't the primary one without making it obvious?
Beth:
Don't prove conclusions. Collect facts. Work schedules. Pickups. Meals. Therapy.
Caroline:
What if June keeps saying Rachel does more?
Beth:
Kids say all kinds of things. Consistent records matter.
That message was not illegal.
It was disturbing.
Beth had treated a child’s voice as noise to be overcome by documentation.
Eventually her employer reviewed whether professional boundaries had been crossed.
