The following spring, Harrington Hall reopened several rooms to the public.
Oliver had resisted the idea at first.
Then Hannah convinced him.
“If this place survived because everyone kept secrets,” she said, “perhaps it should survive differently now.”
The estate company was restructured.
Independent trustees were appointed.
No single family member could quietly move land again.
Hannah received her recognised beneficial stake and became co-director of the heritage and tenancy trust rather than merely accepting money.
East Lodge was repaired properly.
Not turned into a luxury cottage.
Repaired.
Maisie chose yellow curtains.
Oliver objected.
She informed him that being technically her great-uncle did not give him authority over curtains.
He surrendered immediately.
In the portrait gallery, the torn photograph was restored.

Beside it hung Catherine’s handwritten sentence:
Family is larger than the story we told him.
Oliver kept it there deliberately.
