Beatriz’s revised statement did not end the investigation.
It gave investigators a map.
They followed it.
Bank records showed Carmen paying the storage fees for Andrew’s samples after Lucía stopped paying them.
Keystone’s internal audit confirmed two unauthorized account recoveries.
Telephone records placed Carmen in repeated contact with Beatriz around both later conception windows.
Pharmacy records showed Beatriz had filled her own prescription for a sedating medication shortly before Lucía’s latest positive pregnancy test.
The quantity did not prove exactly how much Lucía had received.
Rachel’s toxicology result proved she had received some.
Convent inventory showed undocumented IV supplies under Beatriz’s control.
The receiving ledger showed the reproductive shipments.
The cycle chart showed preparation.
Lucía’s revocation letter showed withdrawal of consent.
Rachel’s old medical note showed Lucía had denied consenting to Emiliano’s conception long before the third pregnancy.
No single piece solved the case.
Together they formed something stronger than a dramatic confession ever could.

The state nursing board opened a formal case against Beatriz.
Keystone suspended release activity on Andrew’s account and began a compliance review over how Carmen had defeated its identity checks.
Lucía’s attorney prepared a civil claim but advised her not to expect quick results.
“Months,” she said. “Possibly years.”
Lucía nodded.
For once, nobody promised her instant justice.
The diocesan review also widened.
They examined my decisions after both earlier pregnancies.
I submitted every email, every note, and every report.
Including the ones that made me look cautious when I should have been curious.
The bishop asked whether I wished to amend my statement before it became final.
“No.”
I had asked Lucía to tell the whole truth.
I could do no less.
Then Beatriz’s attorney informed investigators that she was prepared to admit administering medication without Lucía’s consent and participating in the two later procedures.
Carmen still denied directing anything.
She called Lucía once from a blocked number.
Lucía answered.
Carmen said only, “You’re going to destroy this family.”
Lucía closed her eyes.
Then she replied, “No, Mom. I’m stopping you from deciding what our family is allowed to be.”
