Chapter 14 - Sasha Ran Without My Name Beside Hers

Sasha transferred to an independent sprint coach named Elena Brooks.

No family relationship.

No free training.

No favors.

Elena reassessed everything.

Hamstring.

Strength imbalance.

Sprint mechanics.

Training load.

Then pulled Sasha from full-speed competition for five weeks.

Renee nearly exploded.

Sasha followed the plan.

That was the difference.

She returned slower initially.

Then healthier.

At her first meet back, she ran 11.98.

Worse than the false 11.71.

Worse than her personal best.

She posted the official result herself.

No edited caption.

No excuse.

Three meets later:

11.87.

Then:

11.79.

Real.

Ridgerest’s $110,000 scholarship went to someone else.

That consequence stayed.

There was no last-minute committee meeting where honesty magically restored everything.

But other schools remained possible.

Graham told Sasha she could reapply for future Ridgerest programs if she met eligibility criteria with an independent sponsor and a clean file.

She thanked him.

No begging.

Renee stopped managing her athletic accounts after Sasha changed the passwords.

That caused another family explosion.

It also ended.

At Harlo Performance, I instituted a new rule.

No free long-term family clients.

Not because relatives were inherently untrustworthy.

Because free professional labor had blurred responsibility.

Sasha’s training had become something Renee considered hers.

My time.

My reports.

My reputation.

My signature.

Free had slowly turned into owed.

Dominique helped me write the policy.

Then asked:

“Did it really take a forged signature and a destroyed motorcycle for you to learn boundaries?”

“Yes.”

“Efficient.”

“Thank you.”

May you like

She smiled.

Sometimes growth needs somebody willing to make fun of it.
