That limited some harm.
Financial exploitation involving Mom's accounts had to be distinguished from compensation she knowingly approved during lucid periods.
That distinction took accountants.
Medical records.
Witnesses.
Dates.
Not outrage.
Luca eventually accepted responsibility for specific financial misconduct and document fraud through negotiated legal proceedings.
He was ordered to repay substantial amounts.
Restrictions were imposed on handling Mom's finances.
Wendy's company stopped receiving care payments.
The Lexus went away.
Her debts remained hers.
Luca did not lose everything.
He found work.
Smaller.
Less prestigious.
He moved into an apartment.
For the first time in years, his life did not revolve around Mom.
Oddly, that helped.
He began therapy.
